E. M. LEVINESS, OSAGE RESIDENT CALLED, FUNERAL HELD ON MONDAY

E. M. Leviness, aged 88, well known and highly respected resident of Osage, died Saturday at his home following a three week illness with old age complications.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Baptist church in Osage and were attended by a crowd that more than taxed the seating capacity of the building. The wealth of beautiful flowers bespoke the high esteem in which Mr. Leviness was held.
Rev C. H. Peters of Ulen, former Osage pastor, officiated at the service assisted by Rev. Chas. Fox resident pastor. Pallbearers were Arthur Sartain, Jas. Henderson, Joe Robinson, Howard Sexton, Everett Crosby and Ray Enfield.
Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.

Eugene Martin Leviness was born May 10, 1857, in White Plain, New York, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Leviness. He lived there attending school and grew to manhood. He spent two years in Canada then went to Farmersburg, Iowa where he worked at the occupation of carpenter and also farmed. He was a member of the Methodist Church in White Plain.
His marriage to Bloomy T. Cloudman occurred September 29, 1881 at Elkater, Iowa. The family lived in Summer, Iowa and Deerwood, Minn., then came to Osage.
Mr. and Mrs. Leviness celebrated their golden wedding in 1931 then were blessed with nine more years of wedded life. Mrs. Leviness died February 16, 1940.

Because he was truly interested in the welfare of others, Mr. Leviness' friends both young and old were legion. His greatest delight was to do some thoughtful kindly act in order that the world might be a better place in which to live. A great lover of birds and flowers as well as his fellow men, he enjoyed the fact that he could "Live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man.'
Surviving are a son Floyd and a daughter, Mrs. Ada C. Blanchard both of Osage. Two sons and two daughters as well as the wife preceded him in death. There are five grandchildren and one brother Walter Leviness of North McGregor, Iowa.
Thomas E. Blanchard of Orr was an out of town relative at the funeral.
