Marie (Koch) Bauer was born in Brunnenthal Russia, Aug 7, 1870, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. John Koch. The family came to the United States in 1886, settling in Nebraska before moving to Ritzville a few years later. Here Reverend Koch founded the Congregational church and later in founded a church in Portland.
Marie Bauer was married in Ritzville to Fred Bauer. They farmed for a number of years, and later Bauer helped organize the Ritzville Trading company. He died in 1936. Mrs. Bauer moved to Portland in 1937 and had lived there ever since.
Survivors are three daughters; Mrs. Walter Schnurbusch and Mrs. Everett Goode, both of Portland and Mrs. Otto Walser of Bellingham; a sister, Mrs. Emily Crystal of Berlely Caifornia; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
