Mrs. Benward Services Set Here Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Benward of Ritzville, who died of a heart attack shortly after arriving at the Adams County Memorial hospital Monday, will be held Friday at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home.
Rev. Alfred Waln will officiate at the services. Interment will be at Ritzville Memorial cemetery.
The Danekas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dessi Haile Benward was born to Mr. and Mrs. Newton C. Haile Jan. 20, 1895, in Billings, Mo. She attended school in Billings, Missouri and at the old Hiland school seven miles west and three miles south of Providence.
On Feb. 2, 1903, she was married to Frank Benward in Ritzville.
The couple farmed near Washtucna for 28 years before retiring 13 years ago and moving to Ritzville.
Mrs. Benward was a member of the Methodist church. She was a past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge in Washtucna and a past oracle of the Royal Neighbors in Ritzville.
Surviving are her husband at the home; a daughter, Mrs. Guyla Taylor of Spokane; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Howes of Grangeville, Ida.; Mrs. Ethel Mulderig of Tacoma, Mrs. J. E. Murphy of Washtucna and Mrs. Scott Shopshire of Santa Ana, Calif.; a brother, Jack Haile of Tacoma and two grandchildren.
Also surviving are four half-sisters, Mrs. Olive McClancy and Mrs. Elsie Steury, both of Springfield, Mo., Mrs. Gertrude Johnson of Marionville, Mo., and Mrs. Lucille Kronewetter of South Bend, Ind.; and two half-brothers, Bert Haile of Republic and Walter Haile of Corpus Christie, Tex.
