Death entered the home of James Matthews, near Cedarville, Friday the 2th and claimed his beloved companion. Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of Isaiah and Elizabeth Roberds and was born July the 31, 1872. Died Aug. 25, 1899. She was married to James Matthews Feb. 9, 1893. From this union three children were born, one of them, Alma, preceded her to the better land two months ago. Maggie united with the ME Church in early life and lived a faithful member until death. She leaves a husband and two children to mourn her loss. Her funeral took place at Union Chapel Sunday, Aug 27. Rev. W. M. Overhuls (?) of Wilmington officiating, assisted by Rev. Bolton of Sugartree Ridge, after which her body was laid to rest in the cemetery back of the church. The following note from her former pastor speaks for itself:
Cedarville, OH, Aug 25, 1899 Dear Brother Overhulls (?), you will preach the funeral sermon over the body of Mrs. Matthews. You can not say anything amiss of her Christian life. She was a holy woman, was triumphant in sickness and died a victor. You can not preach her to heaven, she is there already. Yours in Christ, A.D. Maddox, Pastor
