"Harrison" was the son of Issac Wilcoxson and Mary Ann Standiford. Issac is buried somewhere in Iowa (probably in Lee County) and Mary Ann in the Standiford Cemetery in Harrison County, IN. He was a grandson of Aaron Wilcoxson who arrived in Indiana by 1808 via KY and North Carolina. The family originated in the US in Pennsylvania and traveled south to NC with the Squire Boone and Daniel Boone migration. Then they moved to KY and later into Indiana.

His parents moved from Indiana to Iowa when he was a small child. There, his father died, and his mother managed to bring her children back to Indiana to her father's house. She died soon afterwards and the children were raised by various family members.

Harrison served in the Civil War as did his brothers. He was a member of Company C of the 23nd Indiana Volunteers. It was founded in New Albany 29 July 1861 and was disbanded 23 July 1865. The unit served in the Battle of Shiloh, Battle of Port Gibson, Battle of Raymond, Battle of Champion Hill, Siege of Vicksburg, Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, Siege of Atlanta, Battle of Jonesboro, Sherman's March to the Sea, and the Battle of Bentonville. I have his original discharge papers.

He became a farmer.
