Leonard "Bud" Henry passed away on August 8, 2009, at 11:26 p.m. at Memorial Hospital. He was born to the late Leona (Wertz) and Leonard Freeman Henry on February 11, 1921. He is survived by his wife Nancy G. Reichard Henry whom he married on March 27, 1948. He is also survived by his daughter Carolyn Woodring of York and son Robert Henry of Albany, New York and his wife Julie Samson of Preston Hollow, New York. In addition to his children he is survived by four grandchildren: J. Andrew Woodring and his wife Karen of Mechanicsburg; Rachel Holtzman and her husband Donald of Port Orchard, Washington; Ann Henry and Leonard P. Henry of Preston Hollow, New York. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren: Cassidy, Dane, and Carly Holtzman all of Port Orchard, Washington; and Alex Woodring of Mechanicsburg. He is survived by a niece Susan Blevins of Clearwater, Florida. Leonard was preceded in death by his twin sister Phyllis Susan Jury who died in 2004 and by his son-in-law John Woodring Jr., who died in 2007 and his nephew Michael Jury who died in 2007.

He served in the US Army Air Force during World War II as a radio operator from August 1942 - October 1945, serving in the Southwest Pacific Theater in New Guineau and the Phillipines. He was in the 65th Troop Carrier Squadron. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal.

He was employed as a television repair technican and retired in 1983 from RCA Corporation. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a Baltimore Orioles fan. He was a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Glen Rock American Legion.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with his pastor, the Rev. Brian A. McClinton officiating. Viewings will be held 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Shaffer's (Zion) Union Cemetery, Hanover Junction, PA.
