H.V. "Vic" Mills died at his home in Silver Springs, Florida, on May 9, 2007. He was survived by his children Richard, David, Marcia, Debra, Daniel, Christopher, and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Hulteen and by his brother Gordon.

Vic joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1940, becoming a pilot and rising to the rank of CWO4 Senior Warrant Officer. He retired from the Marines in 1968 after serving during WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He flirted with retirement for a few years before returning to work as a semi-trailer owner-operator until 1980, when he retired again, this time for good.

Vic was a voracious traveler who had a great love of the outdoors and an appreciation for the beauty of nature in all its forms.

A funeral service was held May 31, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. A reception followed at 5:00 pm at VFW Post 4209 in Ocala, Florida (McCullough-Mixson Post).
