Mary Virginia DeRose of Lansing, MI died Friday August 7, 2009 at 75 years of age. Born in Flushing, MI on April 30, 1934. Mary Virginia was the youngest and the 11th child of Frank and Teresa (Spadafore) DeRose, who had immigrated from Santo Ippolito, Italy. She grew up in Eaton Rapids, MI where she and her brothers and sisters all worked in the very popular "DeRose Candy Kitchen". Virginia lived life to the fullest and was known for her outstanding personality and an unforgettable laugh. Playing cards, calling bingo, love of travel were all expressions of her personality. Mary Virginia was preceded in death by: Father in 1971; Mother in 1978; brother, Reverend Father Paul J. DeRose in 1983; sisters, Mary Ann Bobko in 1987 and Pauline Herring in 1999; brother-in-law, Joseph Bobko in 1981; nephew Joseph Massaron in 1955; niece Patricia Ann Herring in 1973; and her very special friend, Onolee M. Ecker in 1988. Mary Virginia is survived by: two brothers: John (Norma) of Lansing and Frank (Catherine) of East Lansing and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. A bookkeeper for many years, she was employed by the Lear Corp. of Grand Rapids; YMCA, I.M.A., Electric Motors, St. Leo Parish, New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flint, MI, Woldumar Nature Center, Lansing. A 1953 graduate of Resurrection High School, Mary kept in touch with her classmates. She was a former member of St. Leo the Great, St. Agnes, St. Pius X and St. John Vianney Parishes in Flint also St. Gerard Parish in Lansing. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery Lansing MI beside her Father and Mother.
