Ola Lee Weeder, age 99, of Battle Creek died Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. Ola was born on March 27, 1907, in Monterey, Tennessee, the daughter of Joseph and Emley (Flat) Buckner.
She has been a Battle Creek area resident since 1930. Ola was employed with the Eaton Corporation in 1943 and retired after 25 years of service. She was united in marriage to M.C. France who preceded her in death in 1942 and then Rex Weeder who also preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Battle Creek Friends Evangelical Church and went on missionary trips to Tahiti, Mexico, Jerusalem and Africa. Ola cared for the ederly and was a member of Burnham Brook, and the hospital auxiliaries at Fieldstone, Battle Creek Health System and Community Hospital.
Surviving are children, Donald C. (June) France and Betty L. (Lewis) Walter both of Battle Creek; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; sister, Geneveen Barnett of Batesville, MS. She was preceded in death by a sister Marion Boyer in 2002, and a grandson, Donald France II in 1973.
Visitation will be held at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home Friday after 10:00 a.m., with the family present from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November, 18, 2006, at the funeral home with the Rev. Kelly Hadlich officiating. Interment will be at Reese Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Battle Creek Friends Evangelical Church or the Calhoun County Medical care Facility.
