Gladys Martinson, 82
Gladys L. Martinson, a resident of Randall, died Feb. 10, 2009, at Amazing Days ElderCare in Randall.
Funeral services will be held at Randall Presbyterian Church Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Robb Bellin officiating. Burial will be in the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Friends may call Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church in Randall.
Gladys was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Alexandria to the late Oscar and Katie (McColley) Covel. She was united in marriage to Roy Martinson Oct. 27, 1946, in Alexandria. Following their marriage, Gladys and Roy farmed and made their home in the Randall area. In 1964, the family moved back to the Martinson family farm where Roy was born and raised. Gladys was a member of Randall Presbyterian Church, the VFW Auxiliary and a past member of the Randall Seniors. She was also a volunteer at the Lutheran Home for many years. Gladys enjoyed flower gardening - both indoors and out, cooking, baking, church activities, tatting and other crafts, the draft horse clubs and activities she and Roy were involved and her special little dog, Halle. She especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Gladys will be remembered for her wonderful flowers, delicious baking and countless beautiful wedding, birthday and other special cakes that she decorated for others over the years. She was a true and faithful friend who showed great love for her husband and family.
Gladys is survived by son Curt (Jan) Martinson of Randall; daughters Kathy Martinson of Sauk Centre and Pam (Jim) Weber of Sauk Centre; brother Lloyd Covel of Eugene, Ore.; sister Doris Lystrom of Elbow Lake; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Roy Martinson (1998); son James Martinson (1997); parents Oscar and Katie Covel; sister Elvira Covel; and brother Ralph Covel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nancy Thoene, Mary Schleif, Marie Poling, Helen Pfeffer and Margie Ritters. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Troy Martinson, Kelly VanMannen, Lacey Martinson, Charles Bolz, Eric Bolz, Russell Weber and Madolyn Weber.
