The Sumner County native bravely served his country with honor and pride with the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific aboard the USS Paul Hamilton. Mr. Link worked for General Motors 32 years in Columbus, Ohio. Doug returned to his home farm in the Cottontown area following his retirement in 1984. Doug was a founding member of VFW Post #8198 in Grove City, Ohio, as well as a charter member of American Legion Post #164 also of Grove City. He was also a charter member of Portland American Legion Post #0075. Douglas was a faithful member of the New Deal Church of Christ.
Mr. Link was admired and highly respected for his fair and even disposition to all who knew him. Immediate and extended family will miss his humor and the quiet strength he exhibited in all he confronted. Doug's unyielding resolve to improve and provide should serve as inspiration for all family and friends. Friend, counselor, and devoted family man, Doug's outstanding values and spirit will remain a tribute to him.
