LOGAN, UTAH: Keith Jacob Nelson, 81, passed away Tuesday morning, September 18, 2007 at Logan Regional Hospital. Grandpa was born in Logan, Utah on June 25, 1926, the son of George "Doc" and Ann Rinderknecht Nelson. He attended Logan High School then joined the military during WWII. After returning home he earned his bachelors degree from Utah State University. He married his sweetheart Karma Schaub on August 10, 1949 in the Logan LDS Temple. He retired as a Lt. Col. in the USAF after 23 years of service. Upon returning home to Logan, he worked for the Bear River Association of Governments (BRAG) and finished his local government service in the capacity of administrative assist to the cache county commissioners. Grandpa was known by his peers at work to have integrity and to be trustworthy and efficient in his dealings. His family knew him to be a man who listened and spoke few words. But, when grandpa spoke it was worthwhile listening. He is a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in many capacities. One of his fondest callings was as branch president at the BYU Jerusalem center 1988-90. His most cherished possession is his family. He enjoyed supporting his children and grand children at various musical, athletic and school functions and especially watching his son and grandsons participate in his favorite sport, football. Grandpa will be missed for his charity, patience and life long service to his neighbors, friends and family. Surviving is, his wife Karma, daughters, Kris Faunce, Centerville; Karen (Todd) Mckinnon, Kaysville; Kim (Mick) Kohler, Heber City; and son Keith (Joni ) Nelson, Logan; 16 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one on the way; his sister Barbara (Ray) Jeppsen, Bountiful. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Virginia Savage, Lucille Lueck, Marget Neville and a brother George Nelson; one grandson, Matthew Nelson Mckinnon.
