Hilda Kemp Abernathey
Hilda Kemp Abernathey, 80, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, in Walter Reed Convalescent Center. A native of Mathews, she was the daughter of the late Curtis H. and Alice White Kemp and the widow of Charles Aaron Abernathey. She was a longtime member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Gloucester.
She is survived by her sisters, Celesta Kemp Emerson of Grafton, Anna Kemp Meeks of Eden, N.C., and Lillian Kemp Hudgins of Mathews; her brothers, Johnson H. Kemp of Mathews and Benjamin Ryland Kemp of Newport News; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, in the chapel of Andrews Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will meet friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Funeral arrangements are by Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester.
