MYRTLE GILLESPIE
Myrtle S. Ellenwood was born in 1883 to the late Mr. and Mrs. S. N. Ellenwood, near Des Moines, Iowa. Coming to Oklahoma with her parents at the age of nine years, settling in Canadian County, near Piedmont. They came to the Indian Territory near Jones where her father made the run in 1899. The family lived on this farm northeast of Jones for many years. In December 1900 she was united in marriage to the late Samuel Boone Gillespie who passed away July 20, 1919. To this union four children were born, Dorothy, Mae, Orville and Wanda Fern. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Zona Mellinger, and Mrs. Ollie Sellers, both of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Blanche Curry of Reed, Oklahoma. Also numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
