Clara Schexnaydre Abadie died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the age of 95. She was born in Smoke Bend, LA, lived in Metairie for many years, and resided in Village in the Oaks in Covington for the past 3.5 years.

Beloved wife of the late Richard Anthony Abadie, Sr. Loving mother of Richard Abadie, Jr., Winifred Orr (husband, James), Phyllis McEvoy (husband, Pat), Daryl Abadie (wife, Susan), Alfred Abadie, and the late Gaston Abadie (wife, Roslyn). Daughter of the late Wilfred and Anne Schexnaydre. Sister of Lee Schexnaydre and the late Bertin Schexnaydre, Anne Roques, Elise Spitzfaden, Oleus Schexnaydre, and Rita Schexnaydre. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Latin Mass in the Chapel of the of L. A. Muhleisen and Son Funeral Home, 2929 Metairie Rd., Metairie on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 11:30 am. Visitation will begin at 8:30 am Interment in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred.
