Bentley Lewis Altizer, 65, of 708 4th Street, North East, Pulaski, died Sunday evening in the Radford Community Hospital. Born June 22, 1924 in Cambria, he was the son of the late Charles Bentley Altizer & Sarah Elizabeth Simpkins Altizer. He attended the Church of Nazarene, Pulaski. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He was a retired construction worker. Surviving are his wife, Stella Faye Simpkins Altizer; one son, Darrell Thomas Altizer of Pulaski; one grandson, Michael Thomas Altizer of Draper; five sisters, Mrs. J.C. (Ruby) Lavender, Indian Head, MD, Mrs. James (Norma Jean) Wells, Shawsville, VA, Mrs. Dwayne (Vernice) Lucas, Christiansburg, Mrs. Eddie (Lola) Touregny, Newmarket, NH, Mrs. Nora Jones of Blacksburg; one brother, Charles Sherman Altizer, Christiansburg. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. Ricky W. Newman officiating. Interment will follow in the Trail Family Cemetery, Hiwassee, with military graveside honors being conducted by the Virginia Defense Force. Visiting will be anytime Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski. The family will be meeting at the residence of the son, Darrell Thomas Altizer, 519 Henry Ave, Pulaski. Bower Funeral Home handled arrangements.
