Rosa Archibald Passes At Franklin Saturday

Mrs. Rosa S. Archibald, wife of J. Sinclair Archibald, died at the family home in Franklin Saturday after a short illbess from pneumonia. Mrs. Ardiibald was born in this section and lived the greater part of her life here. She was always a leading woman in the community, known for her music and her graciousness and there are many relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Her funeral was held Tuesday from her home and interment was made in the family plot in the Margaretville cemetery.

Mrs. Archibald had experienced a cold for a few weeks previous to her death and Tuesday of last week was taken with pneumonia. She was bom at New Kingston Dec. 18, 1873, the only child of John T. and Mary Anna Swart Ardiibald. Dec. 24,1891, she married James Sindair Archibald in New Kingston. She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Leona Archibald of Franklin, and three aunts. The family moved from Margaretville to Franklin in 1928, and for the past ten years, she and her daughter had operated the Archibald coffee shop there.

She was a charter member of the Minerva club of Margaretville, and was a member of the Congregational-Baptist church of Franklin,the WCTU, and the Franklin grange. She was a good woman and devoted to her home and her family. Among her many interests was music. She played the violin and the piano, and in every community in which she lived, organized an orchestra. Only the best in music appealed to her. She had a wide circle of friends who will miss her kindly smile.
