George Edward Beckwith was born in Elgin, to George and Bertha Mosiman Beckwith. His sister was Esther Fitzgerald of Goleta, CA. George graduated from Elgin High School in the class of 1938. George was a WWII Army Vet, and received the Bronze Star. He became the Elgin Postmaster in 1972 through 1977 where he met his second wife Agnes. George and Agnes fell in love when George hired Agnes as his secretary. George married Agnes on 8-18-1978 in Las Vegas Nevada where they eloped. On April 13, 1998 in Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala, FL, George passed away. He had lived in Ocala for 20 years, where he loved to play Golf.
Preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife Marilyn Lamp Beckwith, and his second wife Agnes Ann Beckwith. His surviving children are: Judith Lynn of Elk Grove, IL., Richard Arthur of Elgin IL., and Barry Lee of St. Charles, Illinois.
