Raymond G. Ashworth, 66, of Milton passed away Monday, June 1, 2009, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Paul Meadows officiating. Burial followed in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Military graveside rites were conducted by the American Legion Post 139, Milton. He was born October 16, 1942, in Ona, WV, a son of the late Fleetis & Stella Rolfe Ashworth. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jearlene "Jerry" Ashworth; brothers, Sammy D. and Don "Diesel" Ashworth. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam and a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 139, Milton. He was the former owner of Raymond and Jerry's, and a retired supervisor with Shell and the former Goodyear. He loved to hunt, fish, watch NASCAR races, and enjoyed winning the race board. He is survived by his sister, Joyce (Ernest "Jay") Bevins of Louisa, KY; special adopted daughter, April Billups of Ona; two step-daughters, Sandy (Ron) Weddington of Scott Depot and Cindy (Delmar Jr.) Stanley of Milton; sister-in-law, Mary Ashworth; five step-grandchildren, Marian (Gary) Smith, Reuben (Kathryn) Ellis, Darin Stanley, Monica Stanley and Melanie (Everett) Laverty; 11 step-grandchildren, Dru Stanley, Zachary Billups, Shawn Billups, Blane Hughes, Cooper, Jayden and Dehlia Ellis and Tavern Stanley, Tabitha and Samantha Laverty and Weston Smith; nieces and nephews Cindy (Randy) Bowen, James (Cheryl) Bevins, Charles and Timmy Ashworth, Kelly Linville, Donna Clagg, Kathy Martin and Billy Fisher; a host of special friends too numerous to name. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, assisted the Ashworth family.
