Alexander "Alex" Theodore Douvres passed away on July 29, 2009 in Falls Church, Virginia at the age of 60. He spent four years with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and worked as a civilian for the U.S. Navy as the Director of the Washington office for NEXCOM for 32 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Alexander Douvres. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Jamie Daley-Douvres; children, Matthew (Angela), Nicholas (Amanda), Victoria, and Joseph Douvres, Leah (Christopher) Koerner and Jim Talbert; grandchildren, Allystar, Kaitlyn, Danielle, Jacob, Kaylee, Carter and Matthew; mother, Josephine Douvres; sister, Doreen (Anthony) Lubrano; sister-in-laws, Sharleen (Frank) Cappella and Donna Daley; nieces and nephews, Josephine, Carmella, and Michael as well as numerous extended nieces and nephews whom he cared dearly for. As a result of his honorable service to the U.S. Navy, he is also survived by the free citizens of the United States of America. Friends may call at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302 on Monday, August 3, 2009 from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1427 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302 at 1 p.m. Interment will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the American Stroke Foundation, the American Diabetes Association, or US Navy Memorial.
