Her father was George Kellog Birge and her mother, Minnie (Bonneywell) Birge

From her obituary which was in the Odessa Record, Odessa, WA: "She was baptized in the Cedonia Community Church, north of Davenport. She attended the Davenport Elementary School and graduated from the Hunter, WA, High School. She then attended what is now the EWSC at Cheney, WA, from which she graduated with a life time teaching certificate. She taught in various schools in the Odessa area, including Odessa, since her parents had moved to Odessa in 1924 where she lived with them. After teaching for many years in Cedonia, Warden, Ralston and other area schools, she retired from that vocation, moving back to Odessa and taking care of her parents. After her father passed away, she could no longer take care of her mother, who had to be put into a nursing home in Spokane, she lived alone in her parents' house until 1961 when she moved to Spokane, WA, where she lived with the Marcuson family until 1970, when she entered the North Madison Nursing Home, where she passed away."

She was a retired school teacher. "She was a member of the Washington State Retired Teacher's Association, of which organization she was very proud. For many years she was suffering from arthritis, which made walking very difficult for her at times."
