Maon Miller
Services for Maon "Pop" Miller, 81, of 3821 N. Ashton, will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Endsley & Son Funeral Home, 1125 Main. The Rev. Dan Merrick will officiate and burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 tonight. Memorials may be made to the Heart Assocation. He died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday in Methodist Medical Center, where he was a patient since April 28. He worked as an auto mechanic until World War II, then at Caterpillar Tractor Co., retiring as a model maker in 1964. He was a member of Glen Oak Christian Church and the Illinois Valley Antique Car Club. Born Aug. 25, 1897 in Lovington, a son of William and Wilmoth Hardin Miller, he married Jessie F. Burk, Aug. 1, 1920, in Peoria. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Wilbur of Tulsa, Okla., Robert of Peoria; one brother, Ivan of Chicago; eight grandchildren;; seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Harry.

Maon Miller was born to William H. and Wilmoth (Hardin) Miller. He had two brothers, Harry and Ivan Miller. He married Jessie Burk and had two sons, Robert H. and Wilbur Miller. He lived most of his adult live in a home that he built himself at 205 (later 2105) N. Ashton, Peoria, IL. He was a mechanic and race car driver, building his own race cars, among many other things.
