James proudly served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was employed with Ashland Oil for 41 years, retiring in 1989 and was a member of the Ashland Oil Retirees.
He was a man who showed few emotions, but had a very big heart. He was always willing to help any one in need and took great pride in providing for his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Archer on February 18, 1991, whom he was married to for 44 years.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Susan and Eugene Mudge of Plain Twp.; son and daughter-in-law Barry and Louise Archer of New Philadelphia, OH, son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Monica Archer of Broken Arrow, OK; four grandchildren, Christina, Angela, Daniel and Annie; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10am in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel, with Pastor Berry Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville, OH. Calling hours will be Friday from 6-9pm in the funeral home.
