VINCENTE ROS DIES AT HIS HOME IN PASCAGOULA
Pascagoula, Feb. 2. ---Vincente Ros died at 1:15 o’clock Sunday morning at his home on Pine Street. He had been in ill health since November.
Mr. Ros was born in Barcelona, Spain on February 12, 1851. He came to New Orleans from Spain at the age of 20, making his home with his uncle, Joseph Ferrer, in that city, where he stayed for several years completing his education. He came to Pascagoula 52 years ago and has lived here ever since, entering the employ of Captain M. L. Pol as private secretary at that time. Captain Pol was engaged in the ship building business in Pascagoula.
Mr. Ros served as consul for many South American countries, as well as serving as consul for Spain many years ago. Since then he has been Mexican consul for 20 years, serving until 1922; Cuban consul until 1920 and Uruguayan and Brazil consul until December 31, 1930.
He has been engaged in the lumber business practically all his life, working as bookkeeper for the Robinson Land and Lumber Company, Hunter Benn & Co. and the Farnsworth Lumber Company.
The funeral was held this morning at 10 o’clock with interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Father P. J. Quinn of Our Lady o.’ Victories church said the mass.
