Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home in Riverdale with the Rev. Brian Wickes of the First Church of God in Alma officiating. Burial will be in Elm Hall Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Michigan Heart Fund or the Gratiot Senior Center.
Mr. Brown was born March 24, 1915, in South Hampton, Canada, the son of Sam Brown and Ada (Brightiff). He married Irene Andrews Aug. 24, 1937.
Mr. Brown came to the United States when he was a young boy. He graduated from Shepherd High School in 1935 and lived in Shepherd for many years. He and his wife moved to Warren in 1965 and then moved to Alma in 1976, shortly after his retirement from General Motors' Chevrolet plant in Warren. He worked as a plumber and carpenter while in Shepherd and was a charter member of the VFW in Shepherd. He served as a sergeant with the 308th Engineer Corps during World War II in France and Germany. He also was a member of the Alma Elks Lodge.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Irene of Alma; a sister, Donna West of Florida; two brothers, Levene Shattuck of Remus and Grant Shattuck of Michigan City, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Brown and Ada and Andrew Shattuck.
