Royalty. She was the daughter of Gaston II de Foix-Candale and Catherine de Foix. After her father's death in 1500, she went to the court of her cousin and godmother, Anne de Bretagne. The French king later arranged a marriage between her and Wladislas II to ensure the continuation of the Jagiello dynasty and to weaken the influence of the Habsburgs in Bohemia and Hungary. Anne and Wladislav were married on September 29th, 1502 in Székesfehérvár and she was afterward crowned Queen of Hungary. She bore two children, Anna and Louis, and died shortly after the second birth at the age of 22. In 1515 her children were married to the grandchildren of Emperor Maximilian I. After her son died with no heirs, the crowns of Bohemia and Hungary became property to the Habsburgs for the next 403 years, until 1918.
