Eastern Cherokee Application #6539 - Letter by Nancy Frasher as follows;

Vian, Okla. Feb. 27, 1908, Hon. Guion Miller, Court Commissioner.

Sir, In reply to notice of Jan 3, 1908, in case No. 6539, application for Emigrant money.

My father Joe Perdue, who was also called and known as Joe Green, resided in Georgia in the old Cherokee Nation East, he died in April in 1902, in Illinois District Cherokee Nation. Prior to his residence in Illinois he had resided in Skin Bayou, Flint and Going Snake Districts. Why called Green by name was the fact that his step-father's name was Green. But father according to best information I have was born in Georgia East.

My mother's name when she died was Sefton. She died at Ft. Gibson, Okla. about 24 years since last Nov. She was born in Skin Bayou, now Sequoyah District Cherokee Nation. She was raised by Sam Latimore's family. Said Latimore's wife was her aunt.

My father moved west with emigrants in 1837,38. My father's father died in the Old Cherokee Nation East prior to 1837. My father's mother Rachel Daly, nee Perdue removed west with the Eastern or Emigrant Cherokees in 1837,38, and must have been enrolled in 1835 or for said emigration.

My own age is 50 or 51 and I was about 7 or 8 years of age when she died.

She was enrolled, my grandmother, in Skin Bayou District Cherokee Nation West in 1851 as Rachel Daley, and my father with her as Joseph Perdue, my half uncle Rufus Daley and my half aunt AKee. Said Joseph Perdue, grandma's son was my father, and my father and mother was enrolled as Cherokee Emigrants with the Cherokee Tribe of Indians.

In case more information is required in my case or any question as to my status arises, I ask to be heard from on notice later.

Very Respectfully, Nancy Frasher by J. L. Springston, agt.
