Christoph Heninrich Gentemann was 3 years old when he came to the United States with his parents Johannes Heninrich or John Henry and Maria Gertrud Bogel Gentemann.

They came on the passenger ship Fides from Bremen, Germany to New Orleans. Landing on Jan 16, 1854.

History is not clear, but John died of cholera either in route or when they landed in New Orleans.

The family made their way to St Charles County, Missouri. Four years later (1858)their mother died.

Christopher lived with his brother John after that. It is lost in time why Christopher left Missouri. He traveled to Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa, where he is found in 1880 and 1885 with his wife Augustine and three children,Joseph b. 1877, Emma b. 1880 and Josephine b. 1886.

Christopher Michael was born in South Dakota in 1890. Another son was born in South Dakota, John B b 1892. Church records show that he and his mother died the same year. Their Memorial Marker shows that Augustine died 31 Aug 1893 and John B Died, 2 Jan 1893.

About 1899, Christopher married Helen (Hoven) Pitts. They stayed it the Arena - Hoven area until Helen died in 1921. Christopher Henry and his son Christopher Michael were enumerated in 1930 at the home of Josephine and her husband Joseph Sieberg (sic), correct spelling of the name is Siberz, in Greenfield, Sauk County, Wisconsin. It is unclear how long they stayed there because Christopher died 3 years later in 1932 in Hoven.

A cousin of the family ( chcobe-47014701) sent the following information to me. She was able to get this info from Find A Grave member Roger Downey #48218189.
Heinrich Christoph Gentemann was born March 6, 1850 and baptized on March 12, 1850. Entry #7 of 1850 on Pages 38 and 39 of Volume of the Harsum Katholische Tufen, 1846-1852, on LDS Microfilm #1258456.
