SANFORD - Nolan Kelly Rogers, 82, died Wednesday (8/19/09) at his residence.
He was born Aug. 15, 1927 in Lee County, daughter of the late Joseph Kelly Rogers and Sophia Thomas Rogers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Rogers, and a son, Randy Alan Rogers. He is a United States veteran having served in both the Navy and Marines. He was a member of East Sanford Baptist Church and was a deacon for many years. He is survived by a brother, Rev. Joe Kenneth Rogers and wife Drayton of Forest, Va.; sisters, Sarah Esteen Thomas and Mary Rogers Rose, both of Sanford; stepchildren, Pat Chapman and Judy Sprouse, both of Florida, and Mike Morris of Sanford; and three grandchildren. The visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at East Sanford Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Yandle and the Rev. William Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
