Robert Atherton, 82 years of age passed away yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Fry, at Cranston, Iowa. Mr. Atherton had been suffering from cancer for several years and this disease is assigned as the cause of his death. Mr. Atherton had made his home in this vicinity for a long period of years and was well known in Muscatine. He is survived by six children; C. A. Atherton, of Chicago; Mrs. William Kleist, of Royalton, Minn.; Mrs. Thomas Fry, of Cranston; Clyde Atherton, of Council Bluffs; Marion Atherton, of Des Moines, and Mrs. Edward Henneker of this city. One sister and two brothers as well as sixteen grandchildren also mourn his demise. His wife preceded him in death about 21 years. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fry at Cranston, Iowa.
