Maury Co. TN Census of 1830 shows Joseph Elkins with wife and family living next to ELIAS CHEEK of same age. Joseph Elkins md. SARAH CHEEK & I believe they are living in 1830 Maury Co. TN but more research is needed to verify connections between ELI and ELIAS CHEEK to determine if SARAH CHEEK ( who is wife of JOSEPH ELKINS living next to the ELIAS CHEEK family then. ) is related to them. BLADEN CO. NC does seem to show a vast number of ELKIN families living there prior to the time that the CHEEKS and ELKINS are in Maury Co. TN. - Tina Rogers Beller, June 23, 2006.

Note that also on this same image 137 with Joseph Elkins and Elias Cheek is listed a WILLIAM MILTON. James Monroe Davidson b. 1825 Hickman Co. TN, md. Prudence Ann Elkins in 1852 and named their first son JAMES MILTON DAVIDSON.

Per Ida Inez Freemans notes, who had stated that Prudy Ann Elkins born in 1832 Hickman Co. TN. and that she believed this may have been about the time the Elkins family moved from Maury Co. TN into Hickman Co. TN. I believe that to be accurate statement.

JOSEPH ELKINS, father of Prudence Ann Elkins was on the 1840 Hickman Co. TN Census but by the 1850 Hickman Co. TN Census he had died. His widow SARAH ( CHEEK ) ELKINS is listed with following enumerations for their children in 1850 census of Hickman Co. TN. :

Thomas " 20 M "
Ann " 17 F "
Samuel " 15 M "
Joseph " 13 M "
David " 11 M "
Ellen " 7 F "

In same 1850 Hickman Co. TN Census and on same page with Sarah Elkins are her neighbors, who are living in HH 1148 is WILLIAM BREECE age 34 and wife Terressa age 26 ; Living in HH 1149 is Thomas Warren age 52 and wife Nancy age 52 and also in there household is a young man named THOMAS ALEXANDER age 21 M born TN. Later James Monroe Davidson married ANN ELKINS listed as age 17 in household of mother SARAH ELKINS and WILLIAM I. DAVIDSON ( brother of JAMES MONROE DAVIDSON ) would marry SOOKIE ALEXANDER (SUSANNA ALEXANDER ). Unknown if THOMAS ALEXANDER is related to SOOKIE ALEXANDER.

Interconnecting relationships between all these many families in Tennessee are not surprising as most migrated together, knew each other and intermarried over time. We found this to be true in our ROGERS lines as well as their alllied families, of which the DAVIDSON / ELKINS families are a large part of all our allied families within the DAVIDSON lines and within my own ROGERS/ DAVIDSON family. - Tina Rogers Beller, Sept. 07, 2004.
