Samuel Dean Baird, 68, of 3718 Tamarack drive, a retired farmer, died Thursday evening in a Boise hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Baird was born June 18, 1892, in St. Paul, Neb., and had lived in Boise valley since 1930. He retired from farming about 10 years ago and moved to Boise. He worked for the Boise Independent school district for six years and was head custodian of the Collister school for the last four years.

He was a member of the Collister Methodist church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nellie S. Baird of Boise; two sons, Doyle Baird of Denver, Colo., and Dr. Glenn Baird of Weisbaden, Germany; four daughters, Mrs. Alison Saxton and Miss Lida Fay Baird, both of Boise, Mrs. Billy Fern Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Kay Grueter of Kobe, Japan; four brothers, E. D., Lloyd and John Baird, all of Bboise, and Cash Baird of Archer, Neb.; three sisters, Mrs. Nina Milne of Grand Island, Neb., Mrs. Fay Kincaid of Boise and Mrs. June Stevens of Redding, Iowa, and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Kathrine Hooton and Miss Marion Baird.

Services for Samuel Dean Baird will be conducted at Summers chapel Monday at 3:30 p.m. Interment will be at Meridian.
