An account of this family and the history of the Beddoe Tract is found in: "The Beddoe Tract in Jerusalem Town," by Jane P. Davis. His wife Catherine died in 1815.

"John BEDDOE was a Welshman by birth, and came directly to Jerusalem from the old country in 1798. He left his family in Geneva and came to the tract with help sufficient to make rapid and substantial progress in clearing and improving the land and providing a place of abode for himself and his family. The wife of Capt. BEDDOE was Catharine JAMES, by whom he had three children: Johnstone S., Charlotte H. and Lynham J." The family is buried here.
