William Peter Fitzpatrick Sr., 83, Burlington, died Feb. 10, 2006, at his home.He was born April 25, 1922, in LaValle Township to the late Dennis Leonard and Myrtle Evelyn (Newkirk) Fitzpatrick. He spent his early years and was educated in Gilman.He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He married Leola L. Willey Feb. 8, 1947, NAS North Island in Coronado, Calif. Following marriage, they traveled throughout the states with his career in the military. They moved to Burlington in 1966.
After retiring from the Navy, he worked at Unit Drop Forge in West Allis. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Burlington. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.Survivors include his wife, Burlington; children, Murial (Brian) Strickler, Burlington, Karen Fischbach, Mauston, Susan Winters, Burlington, Dennis (Karen), Burlington,Robin (Pat) Cardi, Prospect Heights, Ill., William Jr. (Vicki), Oconomowoc, Brenda (Paul) Neira, Oconomowoc; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Snyder and Kathleen Frasyer. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, James W. Fischbach; grandson, Jason Fitzpatrick; siblings, Alice Paul, Hattie Fitzpatrick, Robert Fitzpatrick, Estella Baker, Richard Fitzpatrick and Dennis Fitzpatrick.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 13 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Waterford. The Rev. Gene Doda officiated. Burial followed in St. Charles Cemetery.
