MRS. FRED KINNAMAN CALLED BY DEATH

Relatives and friends were greatly shocked by the news of the death of Mrs. Edna Day Kinnaman, which occurred at the Yocom hospital in Chariton on Thursday evening, March 8, 1928, where she had undergone an operation that morning for gall stones. She seemed to be recovering nicely for a few hours after the operation, then a change came for the worse and she passed away that evening about eight o'clock. Everything that medical skill could do to revive her was of no avail.

Edna Day, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Day, was born in Monroe county, Iowa, on September 7, 1898, and at the time of her death her age was 29 years, 6 months and 1 day. In the year of 1921 she came to Chariton and for over two years was in the employ of the Bell Telephone Company as operator in their office here. She was promoted to Chief Operator, a position which she held for over a year.

On September 5th, 1926, she was united in marriage to Mr. Fred Kinnaman of Chariton, Iowa. To this union was born one son, Lowell Edward, who preceded his mother in death.

She leaves to mourn her departure a husband, mother, a stepson, Glenn Kinnaman, four brothers, Clyde, of Antofagasta, Chile, South America; Hayes, who is in the Naval hospital at San Diego, Calif.; Harry, who is attending Cornell college at Mt. Vernon, Iowa; and Dallas, of Chariton; two sisters, Mrs. Dewey Cleair, of Lovilia, Iowa; and Thelma, of Chariton.

She also leaves a grandfather, Mr. Silas Day, a grandmother, Mrs. Spencer, who has made her home with Mrs. Day, of this city for several years, and also three uncles, six aunts, and a large number of other relatives.

She was converted when about 12 years of age and united with the United Brethren church in the neighborhood of her early home, about eight miles west of Lovilia, there taking an active place in all church activities. When she came to Chariton she united with the United Brethren here and was serving her fourth year as Sunday school superintendent. Being a member of every department of the church, she was very efficient.

She will be greatly missed in the home and in the church, but the Lord and Master's will was to transfer her from the Church Militant to the Church Triumphant. Her life was measured by her unselfish service to her God, family and all mankind. She took special interest in Foreign Mission work, giving of her time and means to these enterprises. Her acts of mercy and kindness can be written only on the scroll of eternity.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, March 11, at two o'clock at the United Brethren church in Chariton, conducted by her pastor Rev. Geo. J. Cornford. Interment was in the Oxford cemetery.
