Gerald was born to Louis S. Wise Sr. and Lelia Helton Wise of Mattoon, Illinois in 1924.

Gerald was also known as Jerry, had siblings. Louis S. Wise Jr. and Retha Juanita Wise Henry, and Dale Wise. He also had some siblings that died early in age. Beverly Ann Wise, and Frances Wise, and Gale who was a twin to Dale.

Jerry was drafted into the war. WWII. He was in the Army Air Force. He was stationed in Japan, and Biak Island, New Guinea.

Then he worked for Fursties in downtown Mattoon for several years, and then Blaw Knox, Associated Springs, and Am-Pad before retiring. He retired to help take care of his beloved wife Lois, who was suffering from cancer. She died in 1989. Jerry, went on to be with his children and grandchildren and follow his son in The Sister Kate Band to watch his son play and sing. He loved to dance and just talk to everyone he could. He loved everyone.

After so many years, he started showing signs of Alzheimers Disease. I, Laurie his daughter took care of him at home until he was put in a nursing home at Odd Fellows in Mattoon, until he died in 2007. He died from cancer.

Jerry, is greatly missed by all those who knew him and especially his children and grandchildren.
