He was a 1947 graduate of Oakhurst High School and served aboard the USS LEONARD F. MASON DD-852 during the Korean War. He retired from the Southern Railway with 29 years of service. Survived by sons Edward D. James and his wife Donna and Julius E. James, Jr., grandchildren, Derek, Brandon, Ryan, Kyle, & Lauren James; great-grandson, Preston James; brothers, Ernest James, Jr. of North Carolina, Charles James of Illinois, David James of North Carolina, and Gene James of California; sister, Helen Martensen of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Norma Durrence James; his parents, Ernest Cuthbertson James & Ila Helms James.
Interment followed funeral services conducted Saturday, December 8, 2007.
