According to her son Leander's bio, she was first married to Andrew Geisler, who was killed in action in the Civil War. They had a daughter, Hettie. Andrew had been in the same Confederate unit as William Arrants. She married William and together they produced Mollie and Leander. Further information from E B Holmberg: First husband was David Geisler. They had a daughter, Harriet Esther Giesler. David died of typhoid fever and complications from pneumonia while serving in the Confederate Army in Berlin, TN. (17 Mar 1863). The story as told by Robert Andrew "Rob" Boy, is that when David went to fight in the war, he told one of his friends, Hanse Arrants, to take care of his wife and child if he did not come back. So in order to take care of his deceased friend's family, Hanse married Harriet's mother.
