Clifford Wayne "Bud" Catlett
Funeral for retired 1st Sgt. Clifford Wayne "Bud" Catlett, 77, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Antwine officiating.

Mr. Cattlet died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, in Lawton.

Burial with full military honors will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.

He was born Sept. 4, 1931, in St. Clairsville, Ohio, to Homer William and Viola Dell LaRue Catlett. He joined the Army in 1952 and served at many locations including Vietnam and Korea. He retired with the rank of first sergeant in October 1971 after 21 years of service. He married Shelby Jean Ritter on June 14, 1954, in Lamar, W.Va. After her death, he later married Patsy Kay Azlin Brierton on Aug. 6, 2001, in Lawton. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sturgeon, Mo., and was a Past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star.

Survivor include his wife, Kay, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda "Susie" and Robert Gormley, Lewisville, Texas; and Diana and Rusty Phelps, Lawton; four stepsons and wives: Kenny and Sandy Laflen, Lawton; Kevin and Jennifer Brierton, Norman; Kyle and Tracy Brierton, and Kelly Brierton and his fiance', Ginger Huitt, all of Lawton; two brothers: Paul Wade Zink, of South Carolina; and George Zink, of Ohio; a sister, Roxie Patterson, Triadelphia, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and their spouses: JT Schroeder, Daniel and Beth Phelps; Corey and KayLyn Laflen; Adelyn Brierton, Kylee Huitt Brierton, Pierson Brierton, Cassie and Jake Laflen; and Brandon Pendley; six great-grandchildren: Mariah, Corey Jr., Ethan, Emilee, Jackson, and Maliki; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Shelby J. Catlett.

Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m Wednesday at the funeral home.
