Illness Fatal To T. C. Allen

Funeral Is Set For 10 a.m. Friday

Brownsville - T. C. Allen resident of Brownsville since 1912 died at his home here Wednesday at 7:34 p.m. after an illness of several weeks.

Funeral services will be held at the Darling Funeral Home Friday at 10 a.m. and burial will be at the Buena Vista Cemetery.

Mr. Allen was well-known in Brownsville, where he has been in the jewelry and watch repair business for 27 years. Born in Lampasas County, Texas, June 3, 1870. In 1902 he established a jewelry business in Brady, which he operated successfully for a number of years.

Attracted by stories of the wonderful possibilities of the Valley he came to Brownsville in 1912 and established a jewelry concern. During the early years of the depression he sold out his jewelry business and thereafter specialized in the repair of watches.

He was official watch inspector for the Missouri Pacific Lines for a number of years, and at the time of his death was inspector for the Southern Pacific Lines.

Mr. Allen was a pistol enthusiast known for his fine marksmanship. He had a collection of several fine pistols with which he practiced constantly. He was also a archery enthusiast, having many bows of Oregon yew with which he developed remarkable skill and accuracy. He was adept at the art of making vows and arrows.

Survivors include his wife; a son Bernard Allen; two daughters, Mrs. R. G. Carmichael of San Benito and Mrs. F. C. Pierce of Laredo; eight grandchildren, five brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers will include Keith Tuggle, K. Clark, Glen Crigier, W. T. Jordan, T. T. ….(?) H. W. Palmer and Paul Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will include Mr. Bourne, T. A. Kinder, Fritz Schmidt, L. Needham, George Leonard, E. Ward, R. L. Sledge, Dr. R. H. …(?) Joe Bolleck, M. Stein, S. Morse, M. Edeistein, A. R.
