I have received requests to change the spelling of Judiah Elizabeth's name on FAG & would like to explain why I went with this spelling. In all the records I have for her I have found the following Judadah 1 time, Gedida\Gidida 3 times, Elizabeth (only) 2 times.
She was named after her father's mother Jadidah Eliazbeth Tribble. She is living next door to her son William Lollar & family in the 1850 Census for Walker County Alabama, listed as Jadadah.
Her Find A Grave managed by Craig Burton has a picture of her tombstone that lists her as Elizabeth Jadidah. born 1790 & died 1860. This is not the original tombstone. The original stone in the Lollar Cemetery was broken & unreadable.
My grandmother Anise D. Wright Adams was a daughter of Judiah & Thomas Wright and she is the person who gave me the spelling of her mother's name.
After doing research for for almost 50 years and working as head of the Genealogy Department of the Montgomery County Library in Conroe Texas, I have found you have to gather all the evidence you can find and present it with the sources to prove it. While many times in our research we depend on family stories it is important to note that in our sources.
