Margaret is the daughter of Elisha Thomas & Syrilda Caskie (Gadberry) Winfrey. She married Benjamin Ernest Cook on August 6, 1894 in Adair County, Kentucky.

Obit: Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Winfrey Cook, 76 years of age, were held Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the Christian church with the Rev. E. P. Gast in charge, assisted by Rev. B. J. Skaggs. Burial was in Brookside. Mrs. Cook died at her home on the Elkhorn Road Sunday after an extended illness. A native of Adair County, she was married to Ben E. Cook, Aug. 7, 1894, and to this union two sons and two daughters were born. Surviving are: Clarence Cook, city, Alva Cook, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. E. F. Howard, Santa Anna, Calif. She also leaves a brother and a sister, Frank Winfrey and Mrs. Geriah Hardwick, Adair County, seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives. Pallbearers were: Hershel Dabney, Henry Sexton, Toby Giles, Dick Marshall, Haskel Rainwater, and Hugh McCubbin. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, May 20, 1943.
