"Pvt. John M. Hale, 19, of Niles road, Niles, has been killed in action in the New Guinea area, as reported by the War Department to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ione Hale, recently. He attended Fitch school and was employed by Packard Electric Co. before entering service in March 1943. He leaves his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Richard White and Miss Marjorie Hale, and two brothers, James and Fred of Niles."

Private Hale was killed in action in New Guinea, June 23.1944.
The former Youngstown resident, Infantryman Hale was employed at Packard Electric Electric Company before he entered the service March 25, 1943.
He trained at Fort McClelland, Ala. and went overseas in September, 1943 to Hawaii.
A member of the Fosterville Presbyterian Memorial Church, he leaves his mother, Mrs. Ione Hale, two sisters Audrey and Margie and two brothers James and Fred.
