Obituary: Helen McAlpine, 91, of Springdale died Thursday April 2, 2009 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born January 21, 1918 in Clarksville, AR the daughter of Harlow and Dessie Garrett Minor. She was a retired associate from the shoe department at Wal-Mart. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville and had worked as a local missionary for churches in Arkansas and Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Wesley O. Scoggins; daughter, Shirley Nelson and brother, Junior Minor. Survivors include her husband, W.T. McAlpine whom she married September 15, 1984; her son, Wayne Scoggins and wife, Sara of Springdale; a brother, Rev. Ancel Minor of Horn Lake, Mississippi; her son-in-law, J.D. Nelson of Springdale; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Westfield Chapel in Springdale with Rev. Rodney Weeks officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. at Stillwell Cemetery in Clarksville. Pallbearers are Mark Nelson, Mike Nelson, Duane Scoggins, Jeff Nelson, Jonathan Nelson and Kenny Nelson. Honorary pallbearers are J.D. Nelson, Larry Uptegraft and Levi Nelson.
