MARLOW - Funeral for retired Sgt. Luis A. Ocasio, 60, Marlow, will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday in Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mr. Jim Coe, deacon, Holy Family Catholic Church, officiating.
Sgt. Ocasio died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, in a local hospital.
Burial with military honors will be in Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.
He was born Aug. 4, 1949, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, to Mario and Luisa Angela Cartagena Ocasio. He spent his childhood in Beatrice, Puerto Rico, where he played minor league baseball. He left Puerto Rico at age 18 for New York, and joined the Army in Philadelphia. After his retirement from the Army, he worked for Integrity Management Services at Reynolds Army Community Hospital for 11 years. He was on the national waiting list for a liver transplant at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Duncan. He married Barbara Ann Clubb on Aug. 31, 1990, in Wichita Falls.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; eight children: Luis Angel Ocasio, Tampa, Fla.; Thomas A. Spradling, Duncan; Jimmy D. Haymes, Lawton; Natalie Ocasio; Allentown, Pa.; Jacqueline Ocasio, Tampa, Fla.; Brenda L. Gorrell, Duncan; Lori A. Willeford, Marlow; and Aylene Bula, Tampa; a sister, Lulu Ordes Ocasio, New Brunswick, N.J; eight grandchildren: Audrey, Jenna, John, Alana, Tiffany, Cody, Levi and James; a great-grandson, Braden; three sisters-in-law: Helen Finley, Marlow; Patricia Roblas, Oracle, Ariz.; and Sharon Green, Show Low, Ariz.; and a brother-in-law, Roy Clubb, Atoka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and eight brothers and sisters.
