A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, KCMO, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, KCK.

Michael was born Jan. 10, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo., to Florence and Alexander C. Basey, who owned and operated Basey's Market for more than 40 years. He graduated from St. Joseph Grade School and from Wentworth Military Academy, Lexington, Mo. Michael worked for Bank of America for 34 years. He was a member of the church, sang in the church choir and belonged to the church-sponsored, Dinner at Eight. Through the years Michael spent untold hours donating his time to his church and community. Michael's memberships also included PRCU (Polish Roman Catholic Union), KC Cave Bears, Air Capitol Carnival Glass and Heart of America Carnival Glass, where he served a year as vice president and five years as bulletin secretary.
Besides his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his step-mother, Stella Basey. He leaves his devoted sister, Marsha Basey, KCK and step-sister, Dorothy Sosna (Bob), Topeka, Kan., and his best and dearest friend, who was always there for him, Michael Inman, KCMO.
