Luella Zimmerman, 100, of What Cheer, died Wed., March 26, 2003, at the Manor House in Sigourney.

She was born April 2, 1902, in Sherrard, Ill., the daughter of Samuel and Annie Jones McKay.

She was united in marriage to Joseph Zimmerman in Webster on Oct. 22, 1919. They farmed north of Thornburg for many years.

A What Cheer resident since 1975, she enjoyed crocheting, showing afgans at the county fair, and going on trips with the What Cheer Travelers.

She was a member of the Thornburg Methodist Church, the Friendly Garden Club and the East Side Club.

She is survived by one son-in-law, Melvin Dahlstrom of Thornburg; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Arlene Dahlstrom; and one sister, Adeline Hicks.

Funeral services were held Sat., March 29 at Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer with the Rev. Vince Homan officiating. Interment followed at Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg.
