John was married to Bertha Steinmeyer, 5519 Idaho. They had no children, but he was very involved with his many nieces and nephews over the years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed being in the country. In the 50s and 60s he owned a small piece of property on the Current River, near Eminence, MO. The property became part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways.
John worked for Fisher Body at the Chevrolet plant at Natural Bridge and Union for many years and was a member of the Auto Workers Union. He was also a member of the VFW.
Although the death certificate says that he died of a heart attack, the truth is that he was pronounced dead at the scene in a collision with a young man who ran a boulevard stop sign. John's car was totalled due to the damage sustained on the driver's side.
