Husband of Bridget (Connolly) Stinson, married 1850, Tennessee. Marriage record shows Bartley "Stanton" m. Bridget Connolly. Immigrated about 1849.

Occupation: coal miner. Worked in mines in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana.

Bartley Stinson Military Service in the Civil War: Served for Tennessee even though his residence upon enlistment was Kentucky. Lists his birth as 1820 Ireland. date of death 1/15/1899. He served in Co. L., 35th Tennessee Mountain Rifle Reg. He was captured at Cowan, Tn July 12 1863.

Death notice in Pike County Democrat newspaper [Winslow, Indiana], January 20, 1899, page 1:
"Bartley Stinson, one of the old citizens of the county, died at his home at Ayrshire last Sunday of paralysis. He was born in Ireland and emigrated to this country a number of years ago. His son Bart [Bartlett Stinson] is bank boss at the Carbon mines. The funeral services took place Monday and interment at the Oak Hill Cemetery."

The family has searched for Bartley and Bridget's tombstones in Winslow's Oak Hill many times and has not been successful. Stones may have disintegrated. Sextant records do not indicate who is buried in what location; only that the location has been taken.
