Mary Ann Otto was born to Daniel W. Otto and Ellen C. Weir on April 9, 1882 in Enterprise, Wallowa Co., Oregon. She was one of at least two children, the other being a brother, Clarence William, b.1892, who went on to join the Army and fight in World War I, "The War to End All Wars". Mary Ann married Clarence Edmond Akin (b.1867, Nebraska), who had been a farmer while living with his parents in Paradise, Wallowa County, Oregon, when the 1900 Census was taken on June 9, 1900. Mary Ann and Clarence married in about 1901. His occupation when the 1910 Census was taken was Teamster at a Logging Camp in Linkville, Klamath Co., Oregon, with his wife, now 28 years old, and their two daughters, Beulah, age 8, and May, age 6. The family was living at 235 Klamath Rd. in Linkville when the 1910 census was taken on May 17, 1910. I have not been able to find any census for either Mary Ann or Clarence for 1920 and Mary Ann died on April 16, 1926 in Enterprise, Wallowa Co., Oregon from a combination of ills, primarily Bronchial Asthma, Influenza and Endocarditis (infection of the lining of the heart). She was laid to rest at Paradise Cemetery, Paradise, Wallowa Co., Oregon. Her husband died June 21, 1937 in Enterprise, Oregon and was buried at Paradise Cemetery also. Familysearch.org shows that Beulah Elizabeth Akin married with the last name of Wilson. I have not found her as of this date (Aug 26, 2018). There may also be another child named William D. Akin, per Familysearch.org. I have found a son, Charles Edward Akin, 1916-1993, for whom I have submitted a link.
